Santa Ana, El Salvador

Santa Ana is the second most important city in El Salvador, located at 60 kilometers west from San Salvador, the capital city. Santa Ana has approximately 250,000 inhabitants. Processing center for the large El Salvador coffee industry is located near Santa Ana. Currently there are cable TV, mobile phone, telephone, and internet services available throughout the city.

Currently, the mayor of Santa Ana, Orlando Mena, is from the FMLN or the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front, the main leftist political party. Mena was reelected in the national elections of March 2003. Many fine examples of Spanish colonial architecture can be found in Santa Ana;
