1926: The company was originally founded as Société de Prospection Électrique by Conrad and Marcel Schlumberger.
1934: Schlumberger Well Surveying Corporation founded (now Schlumberger Wireline ).
1940: Moved headquarters to Houston, Texas.
1948: Inaugurated Ridgefield Research Center.
1956: Schlumberger Limited formed in Curaçao as holding company for all Schlumberger businesses.
1960: Formed Dowell Schlumberger by Schlumberger & Dow Chemical.
1985: Formed Sedco Forex Drilling Company .
1992: Acquired GeoQuest Systems.
1998: Acquired Camco International .
2000: WesternGeco formed as a joint venture with Baker Hughes.
2001: Information technology company Sema acquired for $5.2 billion.
2004: Sema sold to Atos Origin for $1.5 billion.
