Schmerikon

Schmerikon is a municipality near Rapperswil, Switzerland. It is located on the north bank of the lake of Zurich and has a population of about 3,300 (in 2003). There are just over 1300 households in Schmerikon. In the local dialect it is called Schmerike.

The area is 4.15kmē, a great amount of which is forest. A large area is natural reservate, particularly along the lake shore. The municipality is located at 408 meters above sea- level.
