Strontian

Strontian is a village in Ardgour , in the Scottish Highlands. The mineral strontianite was discovered here, from which the element strontium was first isolated.

The village name, Srōn an t-Sėtheinn in Gaelic, translates as the promontary of the sėtheann, a sėtheann being a low, round hill inhabited by the mythological Sėth.
