The Interpreter

The Interpreter is a 2005 drama/thriller film, directed by Sydney Pollack and starring Nicole Kidman, Sean Penn and Catherine Keener.

It has a complex plot involving a United Nations interpreter, Silvia Broome (Nicole Kidman), who becomes aware of an assassination attempt. Sean Penn plays her FBI protector, Tobin Keller. The next visit of the Matobo president Zuwanie (an invented country, maybe named after Matobo national park of Zimbabwe; Broome was born there) will be the chance for killing him during a discourse pronounced to the General Assembly. At the same time, her brother Simon is in danger at her homeland, preparing a meeting between the two main oppositors to the dictatorship, Kuman-Kuman and Ajene Xola, and on the other hand Tobin has family problems about his wife from two weeks before (one get the answer from him in the film).
