The Land Before Time

The Land Before Time is an animated film, produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, and directed by Don Bluth. It was originally released in movie theatres in 1988 by Universal Pictures.

The story involves an orphaned longneck (probably a brachiosaurus; the same kind of dinosaur is seen in Jurassic Park) named Littlefoot who has to flee his destroyed homeland to search for the Great Valley, an area which has been spared devastation and where dinosaurs can survive. Along the way he makes friends with four other young dinosaurs, Cera, a triceratops; Ducky, a "big mouth"; Petry,a pterodactyl; and Spike, a "spike-tail" in order to overcome the challenges on their way.

The movie generated many direct-to-video sequels, although fans of the original cite the superflous addition of musical numbers and more opaque lessons of morality.
