Zinovi Petrovich Rozhdestvenski

Zinovi Petrovich Rozhdestvenski1 (1848-1909) was an admiral of the Imperial Russian Navy , who was involved in the Russo-Japanese War.

Prior to the war against Japan, Rozhdestvenski was commander of the Baltic Fleet. He was then ordered to take his fleet to East Asia to protect the Russian naval base of Port Arthur. In the Battle of Tsushima (27-28 May 1905) his fleet was almost entirely destroyed, and he was knocked out of action with a head injury caused by a shell fragment. In 1906 his case was taken to court, where he pleaded guilty to losing the battle.
